About
Yumi L.

Hi, I’m Yumi! I’m a Chinese American born in Venezuela, attended schools there and in China, and finally moving to the U.S. during my teenage year. Having been exposed to 3 different continents at a young age, I’ve taken an interest in learning about how different things work in different cultures. I’ve worked at various industries — art, import/export, non-profit, real estate, retail and tech - mainly in the operations and business development space.

Throughout my 20s, I’ve been very fortunate to have mentors from all walks of life that have pushed me to do better, expanded my worldview, and helped shaped the person I am today. I want to pay it forward and be the mentor that I wished I had when I was 20. Reach out and let me know how I could help!

Yumi L.
can help with...

- Tips on how to land interviews at Amazon, IDEO, Tencent with a non-Ivy league background.

- How to design a workshop for 10, 30, or 100 people.

- How to prepare for solo travel to a country you have never been before.

A glimpse into
Yumi L.
's world

During my first solo travel trip, I went to Paris for the first time where I finished reading Educated by Tara Westover. It reminded me how one can truly achieve anything if you set your mind to it and that "none but ourselves can free our minds." Btw, I applied to join as a mentor on Twenty's notion mvp on this train ride to Paris. What a moment to remember ;)

I love live music and enjoy going to EDM music festivals and concerts; the most recent ones that I've attended are Electric Daisy Carnival and Los Angeles Philharmonic - Joe Hisaishi and La Mer, respectively.

Although I studied in China during my pre-teen years for a bit before moving to the U.S., I never got to explore China. Earlier this year, I decided to travel to Shanghai, China, and explored the historical Huaihai Road and the Wukang Mansion. It's one of the most foreigner-friendly places in China, just FYI.

Yumi L.
also enjoys talking about...

- Navigating the experiences of being the only woman “at the table” aka the boardroom, team meetings, pitch meetings, etc.

- How to become more self-aware

- Managing anxiety and stress
