About
Grant A.

I’m Grant - a proud Houstonian currently living in Boston while attending MIT Sloan. I went to UVA and studied Systems Engineering. I spent the first 4 years of my career at BCG, starting as a Summer Associate and finishing up as a Project Leader. Have done a ton of work in Digital, Oil & Gas and Social Impact. Outside of case work, I was also able to work in my “magic time” with the Houston Food Bank and EMERGE on special one-off consulting projects.

More importantly, I have the most amazing wife Sarah and the best “good boys” (dogs) in the world and could talk to you for hours about any one of them 🙂 We love going on long walks, trying new restaurants and breweries, and watching just a little too much reality TV.

Grant A.
can help with...
  • Preparing for the slog that is the consulting recruiting process (networking, behavioral interview prep, case interview strategies)
  • Applying to deferred and regular business school programs
  • Finding the best career path for you based on your interests and long-term goals
  • Navigating and getting the most of your time while at a consulting firm, especially BCG
  • Telling your story when attempting to pivot from or into consulting
  • Providing contacts within BCG or other random connections I have
  • Preparing for entering an MBA program
  • Coaching on core consulting toolkit, especially giving and receiving feedback

also enjoys talking about...
  • Creating and reassessing a career plan: It is important to plan for the future and decide on tradeoffs between next steps, but it is equally as important to know how to be flexible and adapt to situations that are presented
  • Being a supportive partner: I have been with my now wife since we were in high school, so we can chat about how to be a supportive partner while working in a demanding job or being long-distance
  • Maintaining hobbies and passions: Despite working in a demanding field, carving out time for your passions is important
  • Sports: I am an absolute sports junkie (MLB, F1, NCAA MBB, PGA) and am currently planning Sloan’s Sports Analytics Conference
  • Settling in to a new place / situation: Finding your footing in a new city or in a graduate school program is tough. Here to help and listen as you go through those inevitable pains
  • Being a dog parent: We adopted our first dog Charlie in April 2020 and our second dog Noodles in March 2023. To put it mildly, I am obsessed with dogs and think they can be such a wonderful addition to your life
  • Managing personal finances: Getting your first “big boy / girl” paycheck is amazing but make sure you are being responsible while also allowing yourself to have some fun

… real with you no matter what. Personally, I believe great mentors are able to listen closely and try to relate with their own and colleagues pitfalls and success but understand where their limitations are in offering advice. I will go out of my way to help you with anything you need.
